Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Akshaya Vault ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our family vault application and website (the "Service"), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account and profile information

Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and household/family relationships you provide when creating an account or adding a Family Member.

Content you store

Documents, insurance policy details, vehicle records, subscription details, financial account information, asset and liability records, addresses, and medical records that you choose to upload or enter. This is yours - we store it to provide the Service, we don't use it for any other purpose.

Emergency access information

If you set up Break-Glass emergency access, we store who you've designated as a Trusted Contact, the wait period you've configured, and a record of any access requests and approvals/denials.

Payment information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and stores your card details directly - we never see or store your full card number.

Usage and device information

We log basic technical information (IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, timestamps) to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including audit logs of sensitive actions (like password changes or access to emergency information) for security purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your stored documents or financial data for advertising.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that help us run the Service, and only to the extent needed for the purpose below. We don't sell or rent your data to third parties for their own marketing.

ProviderPurposeWhat they see
StripePayment processing for paid plansBilling/payment details
SendGridSending transactional emails and contact-form messagesYour email address and the email content we send
BrevoSending SMS reminders and notificationsYour phone number and the message content
Firebase (Google)Push notifications to your devicesA device push token, not your personal data

Within your own Family, information is shared according to the role-based access you and your Family Owner/Administrator configure - a Family Member only sees what they're entitled to see, and a Trusted Contact only ever sees a masked subset of information, and only after a Break-Glass request you haven't denied within your configured wait period.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we'd tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy).

4. Data Security

We encrypt your data at rest and in transit, and support two-factor authentication and biometric login. Administrative access to sensitive data is logged and audited. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take industry-standard measures to protect your information and will notify affected users if we become aware of a data breach affecting their personal information, as required by applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward in case you want to reactivate, and as needed to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations (for example, billing records). You can export your data at any time and request deletion of your account - see Section 7.

6. International Transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your home country. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) required under applicable data protection law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

8. Children's Privacy

Akshaya Vault is intended for adults managing household and family information. A Family Owner may add profile information for a minor family member as part of managing the household vault, but the Service is not directed at children creating their own accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our marketing website uses only essential, functional browser storage (for example, to remember your theme preference) - no third-party advertising trackers. The application itself uses local browser storage to keep you signed in between visits.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
